OCCUPATION: Professor of Digital Culture at the University of Turku, Pori

EDUCATION:: MA (Filosofian maisteri) in Cultural History 1997. (Minors Finnish History, Sociology, Comparative Religion, Communication Studies). Phil.Lic. (Filosofian lisensiaatti) in Cultural History 2000. Ph.D. (Filosofian tohtori) in Cultural History 2003.; Student of Computer Science since 1994 for Master of Science degree (in frosen status as you can probably see).

RESEARCH INTERESTS: History of technology, history of computing, especially popularization and domestication of information technology, mental history of computer use, games cultures, digital culture. Maybe some day I will explore history of elevators travels or social history of remote controls :) See more info on my Research page (mainly in Finnish).

Reading books: Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Orson Scott Card, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Dashiell Hammet, Rex Stout, Mika Waltari, Douglas Coupland etc. SF and Cyberpunk stuff particularly
Other hobbies: swimming mostly lately, plus occasionaly playing bass, playing badminton, playing floorball, painting water colour paintings (not anymore really), flying kites etc.
